Science-based Technology
The scientific basis of our analysis technology includes population strength research, published strength-prediction equations, and published psychophysics models for evaluation of upper extremity & materials handling tasks. Below is a partial list of scientific research incorporated into our analysis technology.
-
RCRA, Recommended Cumulative Recovery Allowance
-
MAE-IS, Maximum Acceptable Effort for Isolated Subtasks
-
LaDelfa Arm Force Equations
-
Liberty Mutual Manual Materials Handling Research
Recent surveys of assessment tools used by ergonomists speak to the relevance of our analysis technology. A recent survey ergonomists in the US, Canada, and Australia (Fanshawe College, 2024) on tool selection & use for multi-task analysis found that 59% of respondents apply the RCRA, Recommended Recovery Allowance (Gibson & Potvin, 2016). The RCRA was reported as the second most-used tool. An earlier survey of Canadian ergonomics professionals (Beliveau et al, 2022) reported psychophysical materials handling and upper extremity data being among the most-used tools by ACE (Association of Canadian Ergonomists) respondents, at 99% and 46% respectively.
Analysis technologies developed by Saturn Ergonomics have a strong foundation in the scientific literature, leveraging models used by ergonomists in industry. Through software development and application technology innovation, we strive to make multi-task analysis more practical and user-friendly.
